Join us at Te Whare Tapere, a kaupapa Māori stage celebrating Matariki through a variety of performances and activities; storytelling, circus, kapa haka, spoken word, music, DJ sets & more! This is the whānau-friendly heart of the night, filled with creativity, connection, and aroha. All welcome, bring your fam and celebrate Matariki with us under the stars! Performance schedule, below plus Plus games, crafts, and creative activities running all evening for the whole whānau.


4 - 4.30pm - Kayne Peters
Kayne Ngātokowhā Peters is a journalist, presenter, director and performer with deep roots across Aotearoa. He was the first presenter for TVNZ’s Kidzone24 and has since carved out a dynamic career across current affairs, television storytelling, and the arts. With a background in both performing arts and journalism, Kayne brings mana, warmth and charisma to the stage as your MC for tonight’s celebrations.

4.45 - 5.15pm - 'Between Breaths' by The Catching Machine, followed by a free have-a-go juggling workshop!

The Catching Machine is an award winning juggler with over 25 years experience as a professional object manipulator. Known for creating cutting edge work that blurs the line between hooping and juggling. He has performed, taught and caught all over the globe and in 2024 was recognised as one of the top 40 jugglers in the world.

5.30 - 6pm - Kapa Haka
Nestled in the courtyard, a powerful kapa haka performance from a surprise group!


6.15 - 6.45pm - Rehekōrero

Rehekōrero is a spoken word poetry group hailing from Tāmaki Makaurau! They have a true passion for the art of poetry and storytelling which is seen through their powerful spoken word performances!

7 - 7.30pm - Hari - Singer @thelovelyhari
Hari is a singer-songwriter based in Tāmaki Makaurau. She writes and performs in both te reo Māori and English, with an angelic voice and a captivating presence.

7.45-8.45pm - DJ Milan @__frommilan
Ngā Puhi, Ngāti Paoa, Ngāti Pukenga, Ngai Te Rangi and Ngāti Whatua o Kaipara.
Rooted in Māori heritage and shaped by the diverse culture of Tāmaki Makaurau. Milan blends vibrant, global influences into energetic, soulful sets that ignite the dance floor. With a bold, nostalgic style and a love for connecting through rhythm, Milan’s music selection celebrates culture, movement, and unity.

9-10pm - DJ KTA @kelly_astle
DJ KTA (Kill The Assumptions): A Maaori creative from Waikato. With a background of everything creative from dance, music production and DJing. DJ KTA is here to spread joy and bring good vibes.
